A 1999 study measuring desirable natural characteristics in U.S. counties
Originator: United States Department of Agriculture, Economic Research Service
This dataset contains the results on a survey orchestrated by the USDA in 1999, where each of the 3,111 counties in the contiguous United States was measured by its level of winter sunlight, January and July average temperature, water coverage, humidity, and landscape. An aggreggate score determines the over natural amenity level for the county, allowing for a ranking system. Champaign County, for example, is ranked very low, at 3,097 out of 3,111.
